Suction Records was founded in 1997 as an outlet for the music of its two co-founders, Jason Amm (Solvent), and Gregory De Rocher (Lowfish). The music of Solvent and Lowfish, a unique mixture of melodic, instrumental synthpop and clinical electro/IDM, went on to define Suction Records’ sound. More than two decades later, and now run by Solvent and new label partner David Borean, the Toronto-based label continues to champion the same sound, adding key artists Skanfrom and RX-101 to the roster. But Suction Records has also expanded its palette into everything from EBM (Digital Poodle, Celldöd), to minimal synth (Ceramic Hello, June), and beyond.
